This genocide is only possible because of our government’s logistical, technical, and financial support. It’s only possible because we protect Israel from its neighbors, who would have long since intervened if it wouldn’t put them into conflict with the US. Israel is the 51st State, what happens there is possible only because of us.

Furthermore, Foucault’s Boomerang always comes home! Palestine is where we test border technology, policing tactics, facial recognition software, military AI, new weapons and defenses, and methods of political repression. We send our actual police there for training! IDF come over here to teach tactics to us! They’re talking about giving Americans that serve in Israel full veterans benefits! We are not safe.

You think you’re safe? This will come back for both of us, the things learned in Palestine will be applied to us when it’s our turn. It’ll start at the border, then come to the cities, and before you know it they’ll come for you too. That’s what that phrase is supposed to be warning us of, take your head out of the sand. The empire always comes home.

Oh my- you mean the US could become a police state? lol- is there any room in the rock you live under- sounds nice there ;)

But sure- we’re both culpable in genocide as US taxpayers but I guess you’re absolved because you shriek at strangers on lemmy about it.

I’m complicit! If I had an ounce of courage I’d do something that matters, not fucking post. I’m crushed by my guilt. Why aren’t you?

When our time comes, no one will be left to speak out for you.

Because letting my guilt ‘crush’ me doesn’t help anyone. I let it motivate me to vote, donate, and volunteer- things that actually make a small but tangible difference in the world. The guilt means you’re human, letting it crush you makes you useless.
