    Don’t see why it would be a problem for him. It’s not like they ever attacked him because they wanted to.

    As far as they’re concerned, he freed them.

      It depends on if he realized this or not, and being a silent protagonist, most people project their feelings on to him.

      It’s pretty easy to miss the evidence they were enslaved in HL1. It’s not like it’s spelled out explicitly like a level named “Vortigaunt Slave Pits” or something.

        Yeah Black Mesa did a way better job showing that they were slaves, with their interactions in the Zen levels
