The speaker let colleagues know that the House will instead “work its will,” in considering the package, said a person familiar with the private remarks and granted anonymity to discuss them.

“The Republican-led House will not be jammed or forced into passing a foreign aid bill,” Johnson said at a press conference afterward.

Johnson, who rejected a border security compromise that was eventually stripped from the final product, said the Senate’s package “does nothing” to secure the U.S.-Mexico border, which has been the GOP’s priority.

      Thanks. ;)

I especially liked the subtle dig from the AP here, putting Johnson’s full hypocrisy on display in one beautiful sentence.

Johnson, who rejected a border security compromise that was eventually stripped from the final product, said the Senate’s package “does nothing” to secure the U.S.-Mexico border, which has been the GOP’s priority.

And if I read this right, the missiles and defense equipment which make up the majority of spending in this package would be made in the US, so they are essentially taking away potential work for the average American too.

Speaker Johnson has too much of Putin’s jizz on his face to see clearly

Get Russian money out of Republicans’ tiny white hands

Of course he’s not in a rush because rushing things would have gotten them done this past October or November when they needed to be done. At this point we are so far past rushing we’ve blown past on time, through late, sped past critical, and are cruising through catastrophe. Going by his timeline, we would probably still be waiting to fund the Korean War of the 50s.
