Shame on the Canadian Medical Association (CMA)!

Canadians are rightly proud of our public health care system, but it is in dire straits. Years of cutbacks and austerity have caused catastrophic staffing shortages, overcrowded emergency rooms, and record levels of health care worker burnout.

It’s clear we urgently need major changes to shore up our public health care system. Unfortunately, some doctors are using the crisis to call for responses that will only make the health care crisis worse.

The Canadian Medical Association (CMA) and the Globe & Mail have recently joined forces to push for a bigger role for profit-driven actors in Canada’s health care system. On Thursday, the CMA/Globe & Mail’s pro-privatization roadshow will arrive in Halifax.
