This misunderstands his theory though. The whole point is that a theoretically just society would be fair to women as well. Rawl proposed the concept of “the original position”. Under this concept, he poses a hypothetical scenario where you’re creating a society and you’re going to randomly be a member of that society, but you have no idea what kind of person you’re going to be. Under this “veil of ignorance”, you’re naturally going to want to create a society that treats all people fairly - one that accomodates the disabled, one that helps poor people catch up with wealthier people, one that treats women the same as men, etc. The idea being that in an ideal society, the worst off are given the means to catch up with everyone else.
The fact that you’re right does not mean that this theory is flawed… But is a depressing fact for the state our global society is in.
Do you know of any society where this would not be the case?
