I don’t understand why it isn’t banned honestly. It seems very inappropriate to film someone in a gym without written or verbal (recorded) consent.

Seems most gyms do ban filming, just don’t enforce it at all. Either way, it’s always so annoying and egomaniacal when people go to public gyms for their Instagram. Build a home gym, people! Leave others out of your ego-stoking!

At the very very least you could set up in a corner or something, but people are just so self absorbed they’ll set up in the middle of the gym and act offended when they’re called out. You’re exactly right, gyms (and more public places) really need to start calling that shit out

What killed me was the dudes who would film themselves in the bathroom mirrors while I was changing into my gym clothes behind them.

I built a home gym and haven’t been back inside a public gym in over 2 years.

The way that guy wears his hat kinda bugs me.

But for real though as a fat guy with a gym membership I don’t want people recording me and my jiggles.

It’s just hollow, mindless narcissism. Brought to you by the exact type of rude deadweight that cuts into an orderly line every time, expecting nobody to break the tension, confront and put them in their rightful place at the back of the line.

My old gym (closed during covid) had a no phone policy, agreed upon in sign up, posted with multiple signs. It kind of sucked if you wanted to use your phone for music, but I appreciated it. They would literally toss any phones in the garbage.

This might be when that old iPod - sitting in a drawer for years - might come in handy. Or any little MP3 player that might be in the market right now, I haven’t shopped for them in ages, but I imagine they’re pretty cheap nowadays.

Ha I used to use this little RCALyra MP3 player.

Shit was awesome, super tiny. Came with a strap that could connect to your arm. 64MB internal storage (that’s like a whole CD yo) and expandable memory with a SD card. No worrying about charging shit as it’s powered by a single triple a battery.

The battery compartment was notoriously flimsy and would break off. So I always had to have a rubber band wrapped around it to keep it closed.
