My coworker gifted me a big box of old chaos space Marines. Most of them have been converted to noise marines, but they are a mix of metal and plastic, and all on 25mm bases.
Separating them from the bases is easy but what’s the general consensus on stripping minis that are combinations of plastic, plastic and metal and all metal?
I do have access to a ultrasonic cleaner, if that helps, Just curious on what products are safe for the models.

Custodes will be happy to strip themselves on command, especially if supplied with body oil
I personally use Super Clean. I keep a big dollar store tupperware with some in in and drop minis in whenever I want to strip them. Some tongs from a thrift store to remove them, since it isn’t advised to touch Super Clean bare handed. With the tupperware kept with a lid on, I can keep reusing the same liquid many times before having to replace it.
I’ve found that plastic parts can stay in it indefinitely, while metal will start to go a little bendy after an extended period. I usually only leave metal in for 4 hours or so before scrubbing. I’m sure that transferring minis out of Super Clean and into an ultrasonic with water will be quite effective.

Remember that stripped minis are liable to fall apart, so always put a mesh strainer in any sink you’re working in.
Thanks for the suggestion! It looks like super clean is available here in Canada, but it’s 4x the price, gotta love Canadian pricing. I’ll definitely check this out. But as someone else suggested I might try Dettol and IPA first as those are cheap and readily available.

Super Clean works well and I used it in the past but it’s kind of awful stuff. I have a 3d printer so I’ve got 99% isopropyl achohol and that works as well but needs more scrubbing.
I use isopropyl alcohol. It works well for metal and plastic.
@MetricIsRight I use Dettol. The brown stuff. Leave them to soak for a while and the paint comes right off. Might need a bit of work with a toothbrush and make sure to rinse it all off before you start painting again. Works a treat
Dettol is super cheap here so thanks for the suggestion, I’ll definitely give this a whirl, how long do you usually leave them in there for? 4-6 hours or more of an overnight kinda thing?

LAs Totally Awesome is apparently the best. Not available in Australia though.
