everyones migrating out of reddit and twitter and it’s great. threads is understandably sucking up a lot of those people and has already been doing damage (18 year old girl and mum caught having at home abortion). I have no doubt they will be bad for the fediverse, although i have no clue what they want with us considering they gained 10x the people in the first few days. That even outpaces chatgpt
I don’t think they want much of anything from the fediverse. They just want to connect to it long enough to break it somehow, and/or overshadow it. Sort of like how google killed XMPP by ‘supporting’ it at first, then dragging their feet on keeping in sync with any improvements to it so all their users assumed other XMPP clients were broken (when it was entirely Google’s refusal to at compatible once they had the lions’ share of users).
