Facebook ❌ Trackbook ✔️
Threads is going to be great for the fediverse though, just you wait
I’m convinced they’re trying to big dick their way into the fediverse and turn it into a tracking fest. My assumption is that they assume having a bajillion forced threads members makes them think they can walk in and take over not realizing we don’t particularly care for quantity over quality
not realizing we
don’t particularly care for quantity over qualityactually fucking hate them and came here to avoid them.
Facecambook
I ALREADY HAVE A FUCKING BROWSER HISTORY. GET A BETTER EXCUSE.
So they mention that opening any websites in the app results in key-logging including any passwords or sensitive information that you enter into the other website:
TikTok claimed that the key logger was just an unused debugging feature, while Meta tried to justify it with some really weird doublespeak about ‘privacy’.
Lemmy test: https://inappbrowser.com/
Was TikTok generating this information and sending it or just generating it and leaving it on the clients device? If it’s the latter than I buy the story, but if it was being sent it’s bullshit. Every bit of data costs money and for an individual user it’s fine but for an entire platform this would be measured in millions of dollars. There’s no way a company is going to accidentally be collecting all that expensive data just to ignore it.
Lovely Zucknail…
I was already warned about the tracking potential way back in 2014?-ish when they launched Graph Search…
Link History also creates a confusing new regime that establishes privacy settings that don’t apply if you access Facebook outside of the Facebook app. If you log in to Facebook on a computer or a mobile browser instead, Link History doesn’t protect you. In fact, you can’t see the Link History page at all if you’re looking at Facebook on your laptop.
Just a pile of dick moves.
