Started reading this book by an ADHDer YouTuber I’ve been watching, and I think it’s really good so far. Only stop reading at page 42 cuz my wife turned off the lights for bed.
Anyone else reading it?
In case it’s not clear in the image: “How to ADHD” by Jessica McCabe
Did she happen to write a pamphlet? That’s more my speed.
It’s written so that you can read it like a pamphlet. Skippable sections, bolded sections. She knows what she’s doing. ;)
But but… There’s a cat that needs pets.
That cat gets all the pets he wants, when he’s in the mood he hops up on you and head-butts you until you rub him.
I think your cat and my cats went to the same school.
I follow this YouTuber and look forward to reading this book in the fall, because here’s how it’ll go:
I’ll add this book to my Amazon wish list, but under a specific small list of “2023 $0-$30 Wish List” because I haven’t set up all the 2024 lists yet and will probably do it in March.
So I’ll forget to buy the book off that list until then when I harness some hyper focus or more likely procrastinating some task and I reorganize my lists and buy it then for that sweet retail therapy dopamine hit.
Then it’ll arrive in the mail, but with all those other retail therapy purchases so it might not even get the box opened because I know it’s a book but I got my dopamine hit just by receiving it “it’s here!” and I have other packages to open more immediate and stack on the table.
Then sometime in the summer I will clean the table because I’m begrudgingly having people over, and open the package and go “oh, yeah! This book I forgot about!!!” and go off the surge of discovering a thing. And put it on my bookshelf finally.
I’ll have a busy summer and forget to read it until I am rounding up books as the kids go back to school in the fall, and I will go “yes! I will read this now so that it might help with getting organized so I can help the kids this school year!” and I will sit and read the whole thing instead of getting the needed supplies for the kids.
So I’ll give a book review then. 😆 Now I am off to watch some of her videos that I saved to my 2023Summer! YouTube playlist.
How many squares are on that rug?

The book is also on audible if that helps.
I was looking for this comment
Her channel is so good! Her video on “walls of awful” really change how I think about my brain when it won’t do something. I really enjoy the positivity she has in her videos even when talking about tough topics, definitely recommend.
Here is her channel: https://youtube.com/@HowtoADHD
lol as expected the comments in this thread are all off topic!
Seriously though, give us an update if you find it helpful OP! We clearly need all the help we can get out here
No, but the side is pretty.
Narrator: “And that was the last time OP ever opened the book.”
I’m just kidding OP. You do us all proud and finish that sucker.
I’ll have you know i picked it up and read another 10 pages this morning, before even taking my meds. But my meds are at my computer desk… and well, I decided I should take my meds and then got distracted by doing stuff on my computer.
Luckily, this thread has reminded me of what I was doing prior to coming over here, so I’m going to go back and continue reading.
She published? Good for her! I remember she talked about it a while back, then I lost track. I’m glad she got it published. An inspiration in and of itself!

Also, why is it interesting that you found it today?

Despite life keeping happening, I’ve kept returning to this book bit by bit and I still have a chapter or 2 left, but my progress has been steady. So hopefully it’s at least as helpful and engaging for you as it has been for me.

I haven’t read that one. I did read “Extra Focus” recently, which is also somewhat new & worthwhile.
I’ll check out “How to ADHD” - thanks!
Heh, there’s a quote from the How to ADHD author on the cover of Extra focus.
I’ll write that down, I just know of this one since I watch the authors’ YouTube channel.

Bruh, it’s so well written.
You can read it like a book, or you can use it as a reference manual with very easy to find sections you can just flip to and read a paragraph, or skim through the section heading and get the gist until something piques your interest…. It’s damn near perfect for ADHDers to read. Too bad so many of us have struggled to read for so long that most won’t even give it a second thought.
