Russian missiles and drones hammered Kyiv on Tuesday morning, officials said, in a large-scale attack on the Ukrainian capital and other cities that killed at least five people and injured nearly 130 others, a day after President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia promised to retaliate for a Ukrainian assault on a Russian city.

The barrage — which the Ukrainian Air Force said involved about 100 missiles, including hypersonic weapons that fly at several times the speed of sound — was the latest in an escalating cycle of air assaults between the two countries, as both sides look for ways to inflict damage away from the largely deadlocked front line.

I’m not sure that makes much sense? As I see it, we are still enabling them if we buy their stupid diamonds for 2 years after they’ve been as bad as can be without using nukes.
If they use nukes, it’s game over, and UK has stated it will be responded to proportionally.

Well nukes are a big part of that conversation. They’re not just a “oh no … there’s a bunch of people that died way over there” situation. That’s realistically got a good chance of becoming World War III and there may not be enough governments left standing following that for a World War IV in the next few hundred years.

The West took away say 80% (just making up a number) and realistically the 20% isn’t helping them much … but it does give us just a little more we can take and a little more and a little more.

They’re infinitely less dangerous when they still have something to lose. If we take away 100% we have no bargaining chips except “we’ll come in and fight you with them.” Nobody wants to do that because of the aforementioned WW III issue.
