took the niece and nephew to the zoo and caught an owl show and they had these little guys (they’re native here, and the zoo is doing a breeding program,)
the burrowing owls were being total rascals. Left an impression.
I think I’ve been to 2 zoos that have them, but they’ve never howdy’d me 😓
so, it was a show with the birds and they talked about conservation and such while letting the birds do tricks and things. They had two burrowing owls on, and they were tag teaming the handlers for extra treats… another gag they pulled was, they were supposed to fly to a perch at the back and take something out of some one in the audience’s hand.
that someone was a girl wearing a hat with a mousy looking pom on top… and the rascal may have stole the hat instead.

I mean, that’s the risk you run with live animals, but they definitely had personality.
Baby looks even grumpier than the adults! 😆
