TAMPA, Fla. — Amini has raised $4 million toward launching its first satellite in early 2025 to improve Africa-focused environmental information, the Kenya-based climate data startup said Nov. 30.
Salesforce Ventures and the Female Founders Fund led the seed funding round, joining investors who helped the year-old startup raise $2 million in May.
Amini is still refining constellation plans but envisages at least six satellites, a spokesperson told SpaceNews, enabling its aggregation and analytics software to provide more precise information on drought, flood, soil, and crop health over Africa.
The venture currently provides environmental analysis to agricultural insurers in Africa using publicly available data from European Space Agency and NASA satellites. U.K.-based insurance giant Aon is one of Amini’s early customers.
