What’s going on with video on Lemmy? or even the fediverse for that matter.
There are lots of easy to use video formats that are small and portable but everyone everywhere seems to have trouble using a standard that would be useful to anyone. I run into some picture formats with a larger file size than some GIFs but we have to bend over backward to format, upload and host a simple meme video.
I wish I knew. I think at least some of it is that youtube has gotten people to take it for granted. Videos are huge, relatively (especially with minimum compression), so free solutions are far between.
