People are planning to defederate because this gives Meta free reign to inject ads through federation, and are angry that admins/mods are meeting privately with a for profit corporation make decisions within what is an open source community with open source software

The great thing about the fediverse is you can just move off mstdn.social and still keep interacting with everyone else.
