J’aimerais tellement que quelqu’un des médias lui demande pourquoi il tient à tout prix que les parents “soient informés” de la sexualité ou de l’identité de genre des jeunes… Il nous sort de la bullshit de “ah l’unité familiale, la famille c’est important” mais si c’est si important, pourquoi on s’attaque aux jeunes qui tentent de survivre plutôt qu’aux parents qui créént des environnements de famille inhospitables qui nuisent à la santé de leur jeune à un point où iel doit trouver un refuge à l’école. Laissez-moi vous dire, le système scolaire n’est pas un si great “safe space” que ça pour les jeunes queer, malgré les nombreuses améliorations au fil des dernières années (améliorations que Higgs et sa gang tentent de défaire)…

I wish some journalist would ask him why he’s so insistent on parents “deserving” to know their child’s gender and sexuality. He’d likely go on some bullshit tirade about “Family unity!! Family’s important” but if it’s so important, why are we attacking kids that are just trying to survive rather than the parents who create such unhealthy home environments that their child must seek shelter at school. Trust me, NB schools are not a great safe space for queer youth, despite the numerous advancements in the past few years (advancements that Higgs & crew are trying to roll back)…
If you want to know how your children are feeling, know their thoughts, cultivate that relationship and you won’t need their friends and people they trust in their lives to snitch on them.
