Not few first-year bachelor science students here in Norway cannot add fractions (say, 7/5 + 3/25). They use geogebra to do the addition. I find it extremely alarming.
At the same time I don’t know what should be “obvious” knowledge anymore. For example, I was taught the algorithm to calculate square roots, but nobody teaches it anymore, and I don’t use it either; I always use the calculator for that.
