Insane difficulty is really hard. Level 13 consists only of metal blocks and required lots of luck. After level 16 I was hoping that I would be done. But no, level 17 is still there! My guess is that this difficulty has 32 levels…?

And after 12 tries I managed it in easy mode. I would guess it would take me at least 30 tries on normal mode. But I think this is not worth my time. :)
This was all played on the refurbished red play it loud DMG. So real hardware, but modern screen, as the old display board was corroded away by battery leakage.

My best run so far was 5 hits to Wario. So roughly half of what I need. If only there were a checkpoint right before Wario! It is soooo tedious to do the previous run. I shouldn’t have cheaped out on the Everdrive. I have the X5 and the X7 has savestates… we also have the original game, but that doesn’t have savestates either. :)

So… easy mode it is. I do get to Wario, but haven’t beaten him yet. The lack of a checkpoint is a bit tedious, but now this all seems doable for me.

I tried the Wario Castle a few times, but failed. I am not in the mood to practice it more. So I am now looking at some of the secret levels.
The Space Zone secret level is relatively easy to reach. But as usual you have to go through this every time you want to play it.

@[email protected] no, it is very different compared to the MD version. I guess this version and the MasterSystem version might be the same.
These first two levels are impressive and have lots of parallax scrolling, nice colors and even some subtle perspective 3D effects. This is definitely peak GameGear and in my opinion beats the GameBoy version. Disney games on SEGA consoles are mostly VERY good titles.
There are two versions: A Japanese one and a World version. The Japanese version seems slightly different apart from the language. The first two levels are action scenes where Aladdin is running through Agrabah and over the rooftops. Both sequences seem a bit longer in the Japanese version.
The ten next levels were not quite as hard, but still challenging. As all other difficulties had 16 levels I guessed this one would have 32. But after 32 comes 33…
But level 32 was a bit of a gift at 44 seconds.
