redfellow@sopuli.xyzto Open Source@lemmy.ml•KDE's Android TV alternative, Plasma Bigscreen, rises from the dead with a better UI1·2 months agoYeah, I understood, but the OP made it sound like something to replace Android TV.
I wish the revive does well and we’ll have a proper alternative, but the main thing they have to beat is what something like Android TV on Shield provides - otherwise it’ll just be a thing to tinker with, not a replacement.
redfellow@sopuli.xyzto Open Source@lemmy.ml•KDE's Android TV alternative, Plasma Bigscreen, rises from the dead with a better UI42·2 months agoThat does not look better than project ivy launcher imho.
From the 100 reasons to choose this over android tv, subjective thing like “better UI” is not one.
Does it support SmartTube? Jellyfin? Refresh rate and resolution changing based on signal? Bitstream? Codecs? Exo player is a great default player used by many apps, what’s this ones alternative?
The difference is pretty big when there are lots of reflective surfaces, and especially when light sources move (prebaked shadows rarely do, and even when, it’s hardly realistic).
A big thing is that developers use less effort and the end result looks better. That’s progress. You could argue it’s kind of like when web developers finally were able to stop supporting IE9 - it wasn’t big for end users, but holy hell did the job get more enjoyable, faster and also cheaper.

We aren’t really asking for much these days, either. Business is good and new deals with China are boosting the economy.

It’s there, but I don’t actually see it apart from maybe once a month.
In case this is not common, that’s a 18 cig Marlboro Red pack and it costs 11.50EUR
The day is the day when pigs go out to slaughter 😅
The intention all along was to destabilise and buy time. With enough time, the US military enterprise machine is able to produce and develop arms that maximise profit, and destruction, driving the US economy up.
It’s not dissimilar to what Russia is doing, except there are middlemen to ensure whitewashing is easier.
But it’s just a guess!
I’m pretty sure you don’t

Other Baltic countries withdrew from the Ottawa deal too, which means mines, mines, mines.
If the Russians can’t breach Ukraine, they sure as hell won’t breach the Baltics while simultaneously fighting Ukraine.
Edit: I just realized we aren’t considered Baltic these days, even though we were referred as such historically (ww1&2 times).

The games are casual fun, they work great as co-op shooters. Story is what it is, but the games themselves are lighthearted and just pure entertaining fun.
Not masterpieces. Just good.

Why would any auto manufacturer make cars under European safety standards any more if this goes through?
