while China continues to lead in terms of new fabs coming online, the country also leads in terms of fab shells that never got equipped or put to work, thus becoming zombie fabs. Over the past several years, around a dozen high-profile fab projects, which cost investors between $50 billion and $100 billion, went bust.
My gut says “Yes.” I only first saw Spongebob recently, as my kids got into it; I had no idea how strange it is. There is definitely a weird and sometimes creepy Ren & Stimpy-ish vibe going on.
I dont think that is especially controversial.
Skin-on-skin time is not only beneficial for the baby. Parents need bonding time (read: oxytocin) with the infant so they dont smother it when the little asshole wakes them up for the 500th time, screaming for no apparent reason.
Jellyfin, I guess. I currently use plex for music and video (eary lifetime pass), but 10 more years of enshitification is too much time for any for-profit endeavor. Profit motive ruins everything it touches. For anything long-term open source options with a community are important. I have seen too many potentially great projects fail because the lone author had kids or fell ill or just got bored.
No mystery at all. These are great in a business or institutional setting. Author clearly never taught any kind of class.

That is quite different from a talk by Carl Sagan I saw when I was a kid… which is ironic because that likely what Michio Kaku is sort of imitating.
Circadian biology here.
I once helped with an experiment that sent beetles up in the space shuttle (yes, I am old) in Beetle Activity Monitors, in order to study their circadian rhythms in microgravity.

f1.4 is supposed to be the lowest f number
Where on earth do you get that idea? Lower is more expensive, so unless youre a pro, you dont see them as often.
Dr. Frances, a psychiatrist, led the task force that created the fourth edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.
You know, what happened was, in 1994, we added a condition that was called Asperger’s disorder that was a very mild form of some of the same symptoms that occur in classic autism. Classic autism is absolutely unmistakable. The onset is before the age of 3. Severity and disabilities are tragic and lifelong, and you cannot mistake classic autism for anything else.
Asperger’s is a very mild version of classic autism and therefore much more common and much more easily mistaken for other mental disorders or for normal eccentricity and social withdrawal. So the 60-fold increase was largely started by the change in definition in DSM-IV, and then it was promoted by several factors. First and foremost, originally, it was the fact that educational services were geared to getting the diagnosis. And anytime there’s a benefit related to a psychiatric diagnosis, it - rates jump enormously.
Secondly, the internet spread the idea of autism like wildfire. And many people incorrectly self-diagnosed themselves with autism. In some places, it became almost a badge of brilliance. And so the differences in the definition and differences in the application of the definition and the fact that educational benefits have been associated with it - that’s what caused the 60-fold increase - not vaccines. We know from very conclusive studies that vaccines do not cause autism.
Air Force generative AI chatbot
NIPRGPT, developed as an experimental project of by the Air Force Research Laboratory, aims to give military personnel a generative AI Large Language Model (LLM) comparable to OpenAI’s ChatGPT, but free of the security, data protection and privacy concerns posed by consumer AI products.
I am not against AI in principal but this shit is absurd.

Buy the Stihl gas-powered leaf blower. Dont be a dummy and skimp on the CFM, buy the nice $700 one. Note the size of the opening whence flows the air.
Visit your local grocer or produce stand and acquire some appropriately sized oranges, with a diameter to not quite overmatch the measurement from Step 1.
Cram the orange in said opening and aim at the nearest wayward teen.
Depress the trigger in an aggresssive manner. This is key. You do NOT want to half-ass it. Jam that fucker all the way down.
Shoot some trees now so you can enjoy making marmelade-flavored havoc in peace; the teens having fled in panic.
