You do not have to. At least iOS allows you to select if you want to give access to all contacts, specific contacts or no contacts at all.

The card issuer takes a fee, PayPal takes a fee. Mastercard just blocked the selling of certain games on Steam because they wont allow transactions for games with sexual content.
