In all honesty, while I don’t like this, I’m surprised they weren’t doing this already. A portion of the process is intended to weed out extremism and potential threats trying to find a way into the country. It seems to at reviewing social media posts for problematic content would have been standard procedure already.
The part I have a problem with is who gets to determine what is extremism. In the past that determination likely came from non-partisan federal acency rule-making. Now it is likely coming from the partisan administration.
So, now they’ll pass laws making it illegal to divulge the addresses of politicians and other public figures without even considering that the same law should apply to everyone.
It’ll be privacy for me but not for thee.
It’s like they’re just trying to find all of the most abhorrent things they can do. Even neglecting the health concerns, aren’t there better materials than asbestos at this point anyway?
These aren’t siblings in a shitty family, they’re regional military powers. Letting them fight it out is going to end in a lot of death and, possibly, pulling in other countries.
I’m 90% sure that when they said “you yourself”, they actually were referring to Newsom, not to the commenter. I can see how the comment could be taken either way though.
Okay, I didn’t look at the image closely enough. Yes, definitely AI. The knobs look like they’re melting. The buttons are all off-kilter. Non of the text is actual text, just AI blurs.
Everyone is saying it’s a washer. Couldn’t it be a gas dryer? The combination makes a little sense if they’re both gas appliances. Maybe many apartments only have one gas line and this is the easiest and cheapest way to install a dryer. Add it where there is already gas for the stove.
I’m really happy to see this and I hope this sentiment is widespread in the military. I suspect we won’t see many others joining her, though. Political speech while in uniform is a huge no no. I hope the repercussions for this woman aren’t too harsh.
And to the extent that they are actually following the federal law, regardless of its constitutionality.
In case it’s not obvious to those of you who are stoned right now, his sleeve is empty and his hand is in his pants.
Thank you for providing the extra context. That’s very helpful.
It may not be copyright persay, but multiple court rulings have ruled against being able to use another person’s voice without permission. That said, I’m not sure that synthesized versions of a voice have been ruled upon yet.
Omto generate a synthesized voice that sounds like a specific person, one would need to parse copyrighted materials. That sounds really similar to what many are upset about regarding AI. Parsing copyrighted material to generate content with the intent of bringing in revenue.
They both use copyrighted material, whether directly or indirectly.
No, no, he’s just popping his neck and rolling his eyes at Trump’s bullshit. Someone as intelligent and successful as Musk would never impair themselves with drugs.
I’m not quite sure how, even after reading the text, but this must somehow violate the Hatch Act, right? Or something else? The first amendment? Something? Please? Surely the president can’t coerce political speech as a condition of employment?
Google and Meta have absolutely had this capability for ages.
Why? Bringing these students here and training them means that we get to keep some of the brightest students China has to offer. China has a lot of bright students and we’re getting some of their best. Not only that, they’re paying boatload of money for the privilege. Sending them back to China is exactly the wrong idea. We should be doing everything we can to entice them to stay!
I aliased cd
to a custom funtion in my bashrc to do this at one point, but cd ../../../..
is too engrained so I never rembered to use it.
This is the most important question that should be getting blasted everywhere. At this point, with no proof to the contrary, it seems like this should be labeled a kidnapping and law enforcement should be assisting in his recovery.
I suspect, whether this is a case of ICE kidnapping a citizen or someone else posing as ICE, we really will start seeing kidnappings by non-ICE criminals as they see that they can get away with it.
This administration claims they want to stop human trafficking, but they’re giving traffickers the perfect cover.
