Hey, does that guy look like a terrorist?
The one in the middle? Yeah, kinda!
Right then, blast him and his friends. They’re probably terrorists too!

This is better in my head than most I think. One of my childhood friends called their butt other “doop”. No idea why. So, what’s happening “in Tak Pa’s doop”?
Here’s the thing. Even if the terrifs, somehow, didn’t directly cause inflation, the fact that we are taking about inflation means that companies can raise prices and gouge just like last time.
What you said and your statement that “it’s a bit like grief” are dead on. I wasn’t kicked out by my parents, but I lost my dad when I was 27. I’m 40 now and still miss him but the feeling dwindles with time. I’ll always miss him but the impact of that feeling will always lessen as I gain more experiences. I suppose the same is true for any trauma of a similar magnitude. I imagine there are traumas that surpass the loss of parents in magnitude, though, and some of those may not pass in the same way.
This is just a slow coup by foreign actors at this point, isn’t it?
Please don’t leave CO and NM in the middle of the idiocracy.
If you read the article, they are suggesting a different approach to peer review, not doing away with it. They want to find ways to build in incentives for reviewers to make it worth their while to review rather than allowing it to continue as something that scientists do out of a sense of obligation.
They have an interesting approach but I think it doesn’t go far enough.
In case anyone wonders, this animal is called a Pica. They’re pretty amazing. They live at high altitude in the Rocky Mountains, eat as much as they can cor 3-5 months per year, and hibernate for the rest. They make a cute little chirping call.
You know, I use Linux at work but use windows at home. I’ve been thinking of switching for a while. I think the thing that is going to push me over the edge is the difficulty that I have saving a file to my own god damned computer.
I love automatic backups to the cloud WHEN I CHOOSE TO USE THEM! I’m tired of Microsoft essentially holding my data for ransom, though.
That’s the point where I’d politely ask them to come outside with me, then beat the shit out of them while repeating “Your body (punch), my choice (punch)” until I felt they got the point.
Oil and gas are the apple that will get us kicked out of Eden.

If this results in the Kroger Albertsons merger going through I’m going to be so pissed.
Aside from that, we have far too many monopolistic companies that need to be brought down a peg. This is going to be miserable.
The picture makes me think that both the front and middle wheels turn.
Colorado had nothing to do with this. Harris won by well over 10% here. New Mexico too. Get us out of here, please!
Yes, my MAGA family members bought Trump’s line of “I don’t know who is involved in that”.
I actually think you’re wrong. Having MAGA family members, I tuink they are legitimately brainwashed. They are in a bubble where they don’t hear the bad about Trump. They only hear good things about him and ad things about his enemies. Some of what they hear is true, much of it is lies, all of it is intended to scare.
I think that, had these people heard the same things the rest of us did, at least some of them would be voting differently. Not all, but enough.
As an American who follows this stuff pretty closely, a national abortion ban will be opposed in the courts by the states, but it will very quickly get to the Supreme Court to assess the constitutionality of the ban. When congress passes a law, the president signs it, and the Supreme Court rules that the law is constitutional, that is basically the end of it. Our current court will absolutely uphold a national abortion ban.
I think that the only way we avoid a national abortion ban under a Trump presidency is if the House of Representatives refuses to pass the ban. There is a slim chance that would happen but it’s possible.
Honestly we need to get rid of the $1 bill generally but that’s a completely different post all together.
What do you replace them with? Coins have been tried and rejected by consumers a few times now.
Wow, something Biden did drew blowback from Republicans? Imagine that!
This is a non-story. Biden could declare that water is wet and would receive blowback. To Republicans, even an extremely moderate democrat can do nothing right simply because he’s a democrat.
I’m not sure whether I agree with Biden pardoning his son, but I can certainly understand why he would do it. Beyond the fact that he’s a father who loves his son, he has nothing to lose at this point. Trump is going to destroy Biden’s legacy anyway.
