I finally landed a job offer, and I start on Monday. I had to take a $6/hr pay cut to do the same service position so that’s a tough pill to swallow, but a job is a job and everyone says it’s easier to find a job when you have a job. I’m feeling really bitter about the loss though. Getting laid off, waiting 3 months, and then accepting a pay cut has just been a wallop, especially when my wife is expecting our second child in October. Thanks for checking in though, I appreciate the follow up!

I’ve been using sync for Lemmy since the 3rd partocalypse of 23, and I haven’t been back to reddit since. It’s been enjoyable being on Lemmy, and the folks are usually pretty awesome here. I can second the niche interest thing though, but I’ve always used reddit in a curated general content fashion, so Lemmy is plenty sufficient in that regard.

His statements appear to be a by-the-book representation of born-again mentality. In my own experience with people doing this, it’s a last ditch response to, “people think I’ve become messed up and no longer being a decent human, so I’m doing this to prove I’m not messed up.”

This is only effective as long as they make maneuvers to avoid being “messed up”. The statements he made in his video can only be taken as far as his practices afterwards. Does he apologize? Does he atone? Does anything happen besides “I dunked myself in water which means Jesus and I love each other” which is only the thinnest veil of non-action that results in positive feedback from the largest body of the public I can reach with one video. What do YOU think about his statements? Are you an atheist or are you baiting?

Honestly speaking, this was probably the only celebrity death that actually affected me. Robin was my hero, and I enjoyed so many of his performances in the 90s, primarily his role as Peter Banning in Hook, which was what inspired me as a boy to want to be a father. He was such a Pagliacci-esque figure and no matter how many smiles and laughs he created and shared, he still struggled with depression. I miss you, Robin, you were truly America’s Dad.

Somehow I disagree with this. I hate to say it but Mario is easily the most iconic video game character of all time. I’m not even a huge Mario guy, but come on.
