Hi there, my name is Andy, I’m from Belgium.
I spend most of my free time digitising and restoring classic video game magazines, mostly from the UK.
I’ve been doing this for over 20 years now and I’m here to share my passion for these magazines with others.
I love to read and talk about gaming memories from years gone by.
My main hobbies are gaming, both modern and retro gaming, as well as Japanese, South Korean and classic Hong Kong cinema.
@[email protected] that’s the one.
One of the issues was that it focused more on combat.
But overall, it just felt a bit off.
Still a really good game though. But yeah. Not the same.
I’ve tried to get into the sequel on several occasions, but somehow it feels like it misses that spark that made the original so incredible…
Then again, I wouldn’t even know how to even start to attempt to replicate it.
These look amazing.
So much better than the “let’s just throw a scanline filter on there and call it a day” type of rereleases.
I really wish we would get these kinds of things more in official ports.
I think I might have exactly what you’re looking for. 😊

Abandonware-Magazines is an awesome site as well with tons of older magazines.
Only catch is that they focus on French magazines.
But if that’s not an issue, it’s a treasure trove.
I’m not very well versed in the micro scene myself as I never owned a C64 or Amiga or anything like that back in the day.
I started on arcade and pinball machines in the late 70’s and throughout the 80’s and then got into consoles with the NES and Master System.
So my knowledge of those kinds of things is super basic, and that’s putting it mildly.
But you should be able to find a bunch here:

Look at the earlier CVG issues that they have also btw.

@[email protected] it should be on there but it might take a page refresh for it to show up.
I could probably force browsers to automatically refresh the page when visiting the site, but it’s very plainly written with minimal scripts and such.
Mostly plain html, so updates to cached pages aren’t automatic.
You really might be on to something there as Wonder is quite the department from previous entries and the rather stale “New” formula at this point in time.
Still remember picking this up at launch for the SNES (and again the GBA).
Such an incredible breath of fresh air and it showed how the SNES still had a ton of life in it even as the Saturn and PSone were just released here.
People at work are complaining about the weather and as someone who bikes to work and gets to ride nearly an hour a day through the wind and rain, I definitely understand.
But the Halloween season is without a doubt my favourite, so I’m stoked now that it’s starting to get darker earlier and the weather is getting colder. 😅

They really were a great step up from the 8-bit ones.
Some of those were pretty good as well, but these were on another level when it came to presentation alone.
Well, it actually is since Segata Sanshiro gave his life to save Sega.
Not sure if the video will play as I can’t get any of them to play on Youtube myself for some reason…

The Dreamcast, remembered by eight Game Creators | Part 2

It gets really frustrating seeing the switch to a new generation result in reviewers trash anything last gen, or even complete genres that they believe to be last gen.
Shoot em ups come to mind as the 32-bit series started and then 2D fighters as we got to the Dreamcast era…
