

Persson left Mojang because he was, I imagine like the entire Mojang crew, unprepared for the monolithic success of Minecraft. These are apparently also his reasons for selling to M$: He disliked the fame and responsibility, and wanted to return to what an indie dev always wants - to make smaller games and have a wholesome connection with the gaming community. The last straw for him was a lot of people being assholes at him just because he’s the lead dev of Mojang. So, he handed the reins to Jens Bergensten. GameRant source
On an unrelated side note, Persson has got some shitty opinions, but is quick at patching and apologising for some of them. Im 2016-2019 he expressed anti trans, misogynistic and racist views on Twitter. So, he’s hateful, but he supports consumers. Wikipedia source
This doesn’t seem like that big a deal, especially as it’s a software update. Easily fixable with a firmware update like GrapheneOS
