Basically this mutation is shown to protect against malaria, but it causes an issue with producing a molecule needed for the creation of ATP (energy your body needs)

So while they can offer a protective effect to the subject they could need transfusions or other treatment to stay healthy.

Subject 1 & 2 had similar biomarkers, and subject 3 had different markers causing a type of misread that made them transfusion dependent.

    That’s my understanding at least

  • I think our ideas of how to redistribute them are different, I see your point nonetheless.

However we don’t live in a society where your ability to produce is directly connected to what you receive from what you produce.

That’s the main problem with our society, no ceo is 250 times more productive than a line worker.

I mean you are kind of describing the difference between socialism and communism with that point about productivity.

Under socialism workers get back a percentage of what THEY put in. Under communism the workers get back a portion of what ALL the workers produce or the revenue of that.

  • “Underachievers”

I hate this myth of the lazy person, that there are significant portions of people that are lazy enough to throw the entire system off.

In almost every single UBI study done on this planet, that has not been the affect.

Turns out the vast majority of people like to achieve things, rewards are not just monetary and the way people feel about money varies.

The odds of you motivating me to do something specifically for money is so low, there has to be another incentive. Why because my base needs are already met, so I have the ability and time to focus on my other needs.

That’s what inherited wealth does for people. There is not a massive portion of underachievers and this seems more reflective of the way you view people.

  • It’ll just be blamed on the Harris administration, there will be some type of propping up of the economy to give Trump an upswing and then another event will happen and it’ll be the new reason it’s not trumps fault

“Oh we see Germany gearing up their military, and you know what that means WWII, we have to fund new military programs it or we will all die….the economy is gonna take a hit, but we are patriots America”

  • I know it’s easy to say that they don’t mind being fascists but I’ve been talking to a lot of relatives and I believe it’s more of a mix of being misinformed, passionate and then on top of that disadvantaged. Resulting in a type of apathy that allows them to stand by.

They don’t register the threat the way you and I might, just like in Germany they will fold into the fascist party all the same.

In Germany they had a name for these kind of people, it was still Nazi.

There have been tyrants and tough times throughout history. Picture this more as a massive set back in our civil rights, maybe chop off the last 40 years or so.

Climate change won’t outright end the world, but it’s gonna mess some shit up, but we will push forward.

Unfortunately, the only way out is through, it will be hard and it’s okay to be scared
