  • I was a pack a day smoker, and a 2000 hit vape cart will last me almost a week.

I smoke a lot less. If I just wanted one drag of a cig I’d end up smoking all of it. Now I take one hit off my vape put it back and I’m good for a few hours.

It’s interesting how vaping changes people’s smoking habits. I’ve been experimenting with substituting nicotine gum for the vape here and there. Hoping my body will accept that after awhile and I can stop vaping, then quit the gum with regular gum. It seems like a bunch of extra steps, but it’s working so far

  • I think healthy skepticism when it comes to the government is good. Especially if people want transparency. Holding them accountable for abuses is even better, but has been less than ideal in practice over the years.

Unfortunately, people tend to skip healthy skepticism and dive right into conspiracy driven paranoid delusions, and lack of government accountability does feed into that mindset. Combine that with Maga propaganda, fox News, and other extremist media and we’ve got a shit show.

  • I got a “retrowave” in mint green. It’s dumb, uses a turn dial to set the cook time, stands on little feet like it’s from Rocko’s Modern Life, and looks like it’s from the 50’s. Have a matching toaster and eventually want a matching fridge.

It’s been 4 years and no issues which is more than I can say about a lot of other new appliances we’ve gotten for the house.

For dumb appliances with a fun aesthetics look up 'retro (name of appliance here) and you’ll get all the brands who make stuff like that. It’s the only way I’ve been able to avoid smart garbage so far.

  • I worked at dunkin while I was in college and it didn’t matter how often you took the trash out during the summertime, it was constantly overflowing from people cleaning out their cars into it.

Not even kidding, one day I was on break outside and watched someone fill the freshly emptied can 3/4 full with all their fast food trash. As soon as the trashcan is empty people take the opportunity to clean out their cars. It’s fucking weird.

  • Np! I couldn’t find any evidence that any species of tree use their leaves to prevent new ones from growing too close.

The lack of light, water, and nutrients would kill and new saplings all on its own.

That might be an old hypothesis that later got disproven, but most people don’t keep up on forestry sciences so that’s understandable!

  • I really love your advice and how you interact with the world.

My one piece of advice to you would be to keep sharing it and encouraging others down your path of being willing to help.

Unfortunately too many women have run into these situations, asked for help and were told they were over reacting and making problems. Next time it happens they hesitate to ask or dont bother. That’s not your fault, or anyone’s fault that is willing to help. Just trying point out why some women might not go for that option right away. Especially if they are unsure if the guy in question is threat or not.

Your attitude and willingness to help is refreshing though, and its a good reminder that there are people in the world willing to help so thanks for reminding me of that. Keep being awesome and a force of positivity in the world.

  • I’m not directly aware of any trees that do that, but it honestly wouldn’t surprise me if that was true for at least one species.

Most trees that drop seeds have methods of getting them away from the parent tree. Maple trees have little helicopter twirlies, oak trees have animals carry them off, some trees grow new ones from their roots called suckers.

I’ll try to look it up later because now I’m curious. I’ll update here if I find anything interesting about trees dropping leaves to prevent new ones growing too close.

I don’t think my arborist textbook said anything about that specifically, but I’ll double check there first.

  • I prefer when all people occupying the road, whether its a pedestrian, cyclist, motorcyclist, car, or horse rider be as visible as possible.

Its why I refuse to drive a gray or silver car. They blend in with the pavement at certain times in the am and pm and if it’s raining really hard they disappear. In a lot of ways they are worse than black cars.

What’s wrong with making sure you are visible? Why is that something to make fun of? (I’m not asking you directly, I just don’t get the joke in the ad.)
