The fact that there are targets is very worrying… what better way to encourage systemic evils when the easy targets run out?
Feels like it’s just a matter of time before shit’s going down up north here 🫤

Lower amount per donor suggests Lewis had the grassroots support.
Who are the “big” donors pushing up the average of the other contenders?
That’s fair. I mean to reference their tendancy to deny and defend regardless of how egregious the action in question. They consider themselves above the law.

Of course the RCMP is involved… enacting state violence on indigenous people is kinda their jam.

Cue the lobbyists petitioning Ford to get involved to stop it…
my fingers are crossed for you Toronto.

Just disgusting, our national “police” (read: colonial para-military force) is an absolute disgrace. The RCMP should be abolished and replaced by a proper policing force with real civial control and oversight.
There might be good peolpe in the RCMP, but the organization is clearly rotten. More interested in circling the wagons to protect their public image through deciet and lies than actually protecting the public.
These cases where they are persecuting indigenous land defenders reveal who they really are.

It’s the longest running mirrorless mount, and being a somewhat open standard has a very wide variety of available lenses.
The older bodies are really cheap and still really nice cameras. My main is an em5.2 that I paid $300 for, near new, last year. All my $$ is in lenses.

Hard to beat the m43 system if you’re looking for compact. One of the more modern bodies with a f1.2 prime lens will even do pretty good in low light.

Lol, you’d have to be drinking anti-freeze for that to make any sense.

I didn’t see it mentioned in the article but it’s worth remembering: the Conservative caucus voted in favour of Armstrong’s bill.

It doesn’t really matter. The US has been bombing schools for decades, even if an AI chose the target, the humans would have done the same.

Well we can all hope it goes as well as it did for Kirk. Fucking snake oil salesman grifting for profit…

Ah but this tech is ahead of the expoiting-their-users-curve.
By using them now you’re opening yourself to psychosis, yes, but also your conversations are being used to further train the models. I do agree we can assume we’re at the high point and these tools are on the same downward slide as all big tech projects. It’s going to happen quickly considering the mind boggling levels of debt they are carrying.

It’s a feature, not a bug.

Indeed.
Eby is making lots of noise about OpenAI to distract from the fact that the Province’s mental health and policing services are what really failed here.

Ha! How naive to think Alberta’s gov’t deosn’t know this…
Unfortunately, Smith is fully aware and counting on the interference to drive her Albrexit plan forward.
It’s the exact same plan that corrupted the UK’s Brexit vote.
Beware Albertans, there are traitors amongst you.

Ding ding ding, we have a winner!
It’s a perfect example of privatizing profits while socializing costs. Horgan and Eby will be remembered for sitting on the solution while the last of are forests are razed to the ground.

It’s called a publication ban 🙄
Maybe read all those words, and you’d understand that CBC is using a narrow window of law to publish even this much. It speaks to the CBC’s journalistic integrity that they are walking a tightrope to tell us what they can without violating said publicatiin ban.
It’s not about Alberta’s sovereignty, the goal is the break up of Canada; easier for the US to subsume.
