Does a high end sound system actually solve the problem? Or does having a high end sound system just mean you no longer give a shit about annoying other people. Like the people who rev their engine so all their neighbours know how much they spend on their car.

That’s what I do, and I installed an audio compressor to level out the audio volume. Now I don’t have to stress about disturbing the neighbours with TV explosions.

Because some people do click it. Children, old people, tech illiterate people. The exact target market for those wanting to exploit people.

All I know is my gut says “maybe”

I think you’re going to have to elaborate on what you mean by “official classification”

In the early 2000s I was still arranging landline calls ahead of time with my friends because you couldn’t use the internet at the same time as the phone.

It was more that the person you were calling meant so little to you that you made the call while you were doing other things. Back then calling someone was almost like meeting them for coffee, often you would pre arrange the rough time you would call, and you were both engaged in the activity because you had to be at home sitting next to the phone. There was a certain effort to it that would seem lacking if you just could pull out a phone while you were walking down the street.

Oh, I think we are talking about different things. I wouldn’t call the matrix an origin film. I would call something an origin film if it takes a pre-established character and tells a story of how they became that character. Batman Begins and Solo would qualify for that, whereas The Matrix is just a original story. They tend to be lazy story writing and spend time ticking off the boxes of things the audience recognises. Then half of them include a clunky way to come up the the characters name or title drop.

Can you clarify what you mean about origin stories?
Are you saying you like origin story movies? Especially ones that are released as a prequel to another movie?
I think origin movies generally suck, and I thought that was the common sentiment. Origin stories are a waste of screen time.

I was using realvnc but I hit the 3 free PCs quickly. I’ve since moved to nomachine and run it “locally” over tailscale.

What’s wrong with Jack Black?
I don’t hear anyone talk about the hottest 100 at all these days.
I work most public holidays and was a bit if a ritual to listen to it while we worked. When they moved it I just no longer listened to it. Now I don’t think I know anyone that listens to it.

Love that game.
“Time for chow lads!”
It was horrendously broken though. You could just turtle until the enemy ran out of resources then clear out their buildings. To be fair even StarCraft suffered from that sometimes.

Reminds me of all the people that complained Venom wasn’t R rated.
Venom. The kids comic/cartoon character that they made crave chocolate instead of brains. The one that wasn’t allowed to use the word “kill” or “die” because that’s not suitable for kids.

I assumed it was clear what I meant,
I don’t support a blanket ban because there’s no way for that to work. I do support the concept of separating developing minds from predatory media.
How do you do it? I don’t know. It’s easy to say the answer is parental supervision, but if it were that easy it would be an already solved problem.
The way social media works means that by the time you identify predatory behaviour, it’s already too late to prevent it. The way the government has gone about it is ignorant and embarrassing.

There was a lot of dodgy stuff on Reddit. Whether or he personally knew about all of it is one thing, but Reddit as a company allowed it up until it became fiscally advantageous to remove it. It was never about censorship vs free speech like the end users always argue about.

They recently did this in Australia. The method just doesn’t work. Most kids weren’t banned at all, other kids figured ways around authentication, and the ones that were banned just use their family accounts or use the services logged out.
What makes it worse is that kids who now access the services by getting around the ban are being exposed to content aimed at adults like gambling adverts.
I’m not opposed to the concept, but the fact is that there is no realistic way to enforce it. It’s an impossible ban but they attempted it anyway by putting the onus on the companies that have no interest in the ban.

I’ve heard it was only supposed to be a mini series. About 4 episodes. But then the studio noticed the buzz after it was announced and they told the production team to turn it into a running series, which is why it got padded with extra story elements and stretched out.
I just used subtitles
