20 years ago somebody told me that installing Gentoo would make my computer performant enough to run video games. I no longer play video games, but I have been using GNU/Linux variants ever since.

I live in Europe and the whole post resonated hard with me. Not sure in which lala land you live in.
Nah, this was super common when I was growing up. We all used to commute by motorcycle, even though we had a family car. We did wear helmets. I know it’s still common all over the world. I’m laughing now, cause my mother was super protective when I was inside the house, but of course riding on a motorcycle with a cheap plastic helmet was no worry for her. We thankfully never had an accident.
So that is what it was? I also noticed my battery draining considerably faster despite zero usage.
Imperialism would imply the US is benefiting from the current situation, but this is not clear. Although the US is imperialistic, it is not even clear to me that the US is acting in its best interest in this particular case.
If you always vote for Party A, because Party B is always worse, then what incentive does Party A have to actually listen to your demands? None. It’s simple game theory. If you commit yourself to Party A, unequivocally, Party A can basically ignore all your needs and demands.
And the other point is, the party in question is already in government and can already today do meaningful action, but they refuse to. This goes beyond the election. Why are they not acting today?
Not a denier, but people fear the immediate costs. It’s not clear what meaningful climate action looks like. But realistically it would very likely mean a higher cost of living in the immediate future, because not all economic sectors can be trivially decarbonized. There are also possible immediate benefits. But in any case that’s what people fear.
All girls are shallow. I’d rather, “he got money” shallow than “he tall” shallow. At least one is something you can do something about. I don’t know why people pretend that it is wholesome when the girl falls in love with the physically handsome tall guy, but then somehow less wholesome when the girl falls in love with a guy who through talent and hard work made something of himself.
Users upvoting/downvoting leads to a hivemind, even if the moderation is not complicit (which it often is).
he’s an old man, who finally enjoyed some success late in life, let him enjoy his last days in peace ffs.
