The next 2 weeks…any predictions/bets on what it will be then?
Pretty fascinating to see that at this point they both have approximately 50k active users. Also that kbin’s growth is almost entirely in kbin.social while lemmy is concentrated in lemmy.world but has dozens of other instances as well. Do you think that will lead to structural/content differences at some point? Very cool to see and I love the community between the two!
I think that a large part of that is because a lot of Lemmy servers were overloaded so people spun up new instances. Kbin on the other hand remained available for signups. It’s why I’m at kbin. I couldn’t register at any Lemmy instance and I didn’t want to run my own.
kbin’s number is too high, it counts all users.
lemmy’s number is too low, you have to post to be active.
The stats page counts all users, but the nodeinfo page displays data on active users. Fedidb takes data from the nodeinfo page for each kbin instance it tracks.
Im still trying things, i dont want to use reddit official apps. Lemmy is too confusing for me, and i just tried kbin
I need to scroll to the very bottom to type this lmao
Eventually Lemmy will be better than kbin based on the rate of development, I’d say give it another chance in a few months.
I can’t participate anything in lemmy because they limit new users… i applied to lemmy.one but i still can’t login

Its almost at 120k active right now. Will be interesting to see if it will hold over time. KBin has been treating me well so far.
Good to see this.
Yeah, I was worried the Fediverse “migration” would be a kneejerk flash in the pan in reaction to the protests… But it sounds like the word is spreading and the momentum is building.
For sure, trying the Fediverse is the best way to get over a Reddit addiction. Discussions are so much better here, and the content in general is of higher quality. Still missing a few super-niche communities, but I feel like that’s gonna happen over time as kbin/Lemmy build up a reputation as safe havens.
My guess.
It doubled in the last 2 weeks, it will at least triple in the next.
