Hey there! I am trying to design a home network. I have an Netgear R9000 X10 Router which my other router feeds internet into using a cat8 cable using the wan port. My wan speed is 2gbit from xfinity.
I have a homeserver that uses a 2gbit RJ45 Pcie card installed and a Cat6 cable to the router and the server. (I can’t change cabling as its already in place). This router has a 10gb SFP+ port, which allows 10GBase-SR, 10GBase-LR and 10GBase-LRM. I want to use this port as the other RJ45 ports only do gigabit speeds and I want to get the most out of my 2gbit wan speeds. This is the manual with that information: https://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/R9000/R9000_UM_EN.pdf
What should I buy to make this happen? There are no other servers or ethernet devices that need to be connected at this speed, so buying a large switch is not really what I want to do. Thanks!
