Google’s acquisition of fitness-tracking company Fitbit seemed like a big move at the time, but four years later, the future of Fitbit looks uncertain.
If the personal data harvesting from Fitbits is not seen as generating enough revenue, Google will shut it down.
And, more importantly:
If the person who approved the purchase has moved on to a new role in Google and the new head does not see this role as a way to secure a promotion, Google will shut it down.

I have a Fitbit Versa with internal storage for music. The only way to get music onto the device is via the desktop app. The app cannot be downloaded anymore and it cannot be started because the login servers were shut down…
