Any suggestions on an easy way to get started? I’m not sure all the equipment I need and which is just nice to have, for example.

There’s a couple ways, depends how deep you want to dive in right from the beginning. Things you’ll need for every option are resin, inks, paints and anything else you’re going to use to decorate. Also some way to polish your dice up, whether that’s the standard zona papers or some other method you want to try.

As for actually making the dice though:

    1. You could buy some ready-made moulds to pour your resin into. I know there are cheap ones from places like Amazon that are pretty trash, but maybe someone can recommend a decent brand.

    2. You could also buy silicone and make your own moulds using existing dice. We did this for our first attempt with some random store bought dice. Involved watching lots of videos first and making notes!

Either of these should be enough to find out whether you actually enjoy the process, but you’ll soon run into the issue of bubbles and as far as I know the only surefire cure there is a pressure pot which is where things start to get expensive. You might also decide you want your dice to be completely custom and design your own masters to make future moulds from, again costing more time and money.

But take it slow, accept you’ll have some bubbly results and just see if you even like this hobby before spending pressure pot levels of money.
