Actually the API of kbin are not officially ready but is manageable with some shenanigans, but that is not preventing the gold rush to “who will develop the lucky fediverse mobile client?”.

Here a list of the ones currently in development. Sync with its recent announce is HUGE but as always, competion is the best scenario for the us, the end users.

Here the horses in this run:

Do you have some preference by the way?
Sync is a guarantee for sure, but Artemis with its Apollo-like UI is still very promising with its first beta in a few days!

So exctited!

This is huge and it’s going to help the platforms grow, potentially bringing in people used to the third-party reddit apps that are now shifting to the fediverse.

Thunder is more than decent already, and it’s still in alpha. But once the kbin API will be officially ready, I expect it to work even better for us.

I personally LOVE my Joey for Reddit, a minor one for sure, but is/was the PERFECT solution if you wanted the maximum customization. I set mine so compact that I can have 7/8 thread at the same time on the screen.

So I am hoping to see something without unneccesary spacing/padding and customizable font sizes. That will be for me THE fediverse mobile client.

If it’s something customizable, it shouldn’t matter how it’s by default. I don’t think I’ve used Joey for Reddit, I was a Relay fan myself. I loved that you could dismiss the posts you’ve already seen. Now that’s something I have some trouble adapting to here, but it’s not a deal breaker.

I don’t expect all third-party reddit app developers to jump ship to the fediverse. If users will, developers are likely to follow suit.
