In particular, I can’t seem to see posts in the (local?) ELI5 community: https://lemmy.world/c/explainlikeimfive while I’m logged in?
Good news! Jilanico found the fix, go into your profile settings and make sure both english and undetermined are selected (I had to ctrl+click them, they were both highlighted blue when I clicked save settings)
Do you perhaps use Top Daily as your sorting? If there are no top posts today (no-one has voted), there’s no posts that can be shown. I can see the posts just fine, but if I change to Top Daily, there’s nothing. Newest post to that community was made three days ago.
It’s a good thought, but even this: https://lemmy.world/c/explainlikeimfive/data_type/Post/sort/TopYear/page/1 (which I think is showing Top Year?) shows no posts.
I have the same problem in several communities including the one you linked. I also have the issue of only being able to see the first page of posts in some communities, but clicking on the Next button yields no posts on the next page when I know there are more posts.
I get the same thing, but had assumed they were separate issues! All very weird. Does the issue go away for you when you log out?
I don’t think so :(
Here’s another weird example. I can only see 2 posts on this community even though the sidebar says there are lots more posts: https://lemmy.world/c/starwarsmemes
If I flip the toggle to view only comments, I’m able to see comments on posts that are not visible to me. If I click on the link icon of the comment, it’ll take me to that hidden post and I can see it. But it still won’t display in the community’s list of posts.
Are you having that issue?
Also in this “hidden” post I see only 11 out of the 26 comments: https://lemmy.world/post/448385
yep! this too.
No. Karma is a fake metric and can adversely effect others perception of a current comment. Comments should be judged on their own merit. One can have differing opinions or views that may be viewed as negative; however positively contribute to an active discussion with a agreed view.
