    While it is easy to lay into Russia for their disdain and lack of care or empathy for even their own people, I do remain aghast at how they keep finding and throwing people into this.

    I really had some naive notions about a modern war of this scale, starting with something like this never happening again, because we all learned from the last dozen times these long and large wars were fought.

      After WWI lots of people though that something like that isn’t going to happen again, at least not in their lifetime…

        Yep. It used to be called “the war to end all wars” in the 1920s and early 30s.

        Every generation that lives in peace believes they have seen the last of war.
