I worked in fast food for six years beginning at age 19. I worked my way up into management and became a training manager during a growth phase of the company helping to launch five new restaurants. I typically managed crew teams of 35-40 and 4-5 assistant mgrs. I know a HELL of a lot about the business, AND the people that work in them. I believe everyone should work in a fast food restaurant (or some other public facing retail/service business) for a time to get an appreciation for what those jobs entail. And I am very qualified, certainly more so than you, when I state that expecting a living wage from a fast food job is a fool’s errand.
