Florida’s university system chancellor, responding to a push by Gov. Ron DeSantis, directed state universities Tuesday to disband campus groups with ties to the national Students for Justice in Palestine organization, marking the first punishments handed down to colleges here amid the Israel-Hamas war.
In a memo to school leaders, the state ordered a “crack down” on campus events led by the pro-Palestinian organization that the DeSantis administration claims amount to “harmful support for terrorist groups” like Hamas, which attacked Israel in early October. Florida, under Republican presidential candidate DeSantis, has staunchly supported Israel during the ongoing war and was monitoring college protests that have since ignited.
“Based on the National SJP’s support of terrorism, in consultation with Governor DeSantis, the student chapters must be deactivated,” state university system Chancellor Ray Rodrigues wrote Tuesday.

Last I checked they were all trying to figure out if they’re supposed to hate Jews or Muslims more. I’m sure they’ll pick a party line and ramp up the hate sooner or later.
And all of the “free speech” conservatives are silent.
Eh, they only want to protect speech that targets people they don’t like, and they can’t figure out if the hate Israel or Palestine more.

Why does a governor think he should have a say in university students’ clubs / protests?
Because he’s a fascist and telling people what to think is part of what they do?
Because he’s a fascist dictator wannabe. He doesn’t believe you have rights, only privileges that can be revoked without notice or reason.
How to make a terrorist. 1. Remove their voice. 2. Suppress their opinions at every level. 3. Ignore anything they say. 4. Leave them no outlet. 5. Leave them no peaceful means of expression. 6. Let that fester and simmer for a long time.
And to think at one point he was getting traction as the less crazy option to Trump. Once he started speaking nationally, his polls plummeted.
Can we not all agree that dead civilians are a bad thing? Even more so when they’re children. Still more so when they’re babies.

It makes a lot of sense to deny terrorist sympathizers funding and support.
Yeah, but this ain’t that. It’s a blatant attack on the free speech of people supporting the innocent victims of oppression and genocide in an apartheid state.
Hamas are terrorists. This is about Palestinians.
They’re not the same, but not entirely different either. A bit like how most Israelis aren’t founding new settlements around Gaza, nor do all of them support the actions of their current government.
Which is why nobody except the most unhinged tankies are arguing that Israeli civilians have it coming like you are with Palestinians.
