How do you think surf will transition from CS:GO to CS2? Smoother movement? Better looking maps? I know the hardcore surfers still play on CSS, so wonder if it’ll impact that as well.

Because gungame has much better weapon progression and maps, and it always had newer maps and casual and competitive players enjoyed it a lot. Valve basically dumbed down the gamemode in order to make it more palatable to players, and when it turned out to be boring to newer players they just never wanted to play more.

My opinion is Valve should not try to add community game modes to the main menu, because it creates a false impression. Just ask yourself, can you say that Valve can support Surfing servers? How many maps will they support? 10? 20? 30? Can the Surf mode be summed up in 30 maps?

Also, Surfing in CSGO is very dependent on tickrate, so we don’t know how it would feel on Source2 either.

I’m not sure valve would host surf servers, I think it would look more like an option to run your own local server on a workshop map with an in-game UI for browsing maps, and maybe a global scoreboard
