YouTube Video Full System Tour of my Machine Room
This is a video that I made this spring to explain what’s in my machine room and what it does as well as the supporting development and operations hardware in my office.
Very cool! Makes me want to get back out into the bush.
Is your lot all sugar maples? Or is it a natural forest with more diversity?
Like most things this started with my wife, who is from BC, being excited about living on land with maple trees and saying, “We should hang a couple of buckets and make maple syrup.” We’re a mature second grown forest with mixed mostly hardwood. We tap all maples including Manitobas, sugars, and silvers. It gives our syrup a unique, not store bought flavor. We just tromp through the woods and tap them where we find them.
That’s sweet! (Pun intended)
I have fond memories of making syrup with my dad at the cabin and would love to do it with my sons but the cabin is in Ontario and I live in BC.
Is there any profit in it or is it mostly a passion project?
My wife calls it an expensive hobby. I do it because I love it. I don’t make any money at it.
