With /r/starcraft being one of the hundreds of subreddits going private indefinitely, I thought that I’d take the wheel and create a community for it on Lemmy.

This place is going to be run similarly to how things were on /r/Starcraft, with some slight rule changes. Please read and abide by the rules whilst on this community.

General Rules:

  1. Follow the lemmy.world rules outlined in this link. Please note that these are instance-wide rules that do not just apply to this community.

  2. Posts must be related to StarCraft. As long as it’s related to Blizzard’s hit franchise in some way (including but not limited to fan art, esports, gameplay, guides, events) it is generally welcome here.

  3. No pornographic content. This isn’t NSFWLemmy…

  4. Hate speech (including homophobia, transphobia, racism, etc) is not tolerated.

Accusation Rule:

  1. Any accusations made against an organisation commentator, streamer, pro player or other stakeholder within the greater SC community/pro scene should be backed up with evidence. Baseless accusations will be removed.

  2. Do not encourage users to contact sponsors, teams or other stakeholders with negative feedback.

Temp Rule Changes:

  • 23/06/2023 - posts involving Stormgate and Frost Giant Studios are permitted, at least until the game’s release. Explanation here.

What about memes and shitposts? The subreddit didn’t really allow those, at least for a time.

Memes and shitposts are cool. I want this place to go in a different direction to the Starcraft on Reddit, which was a bit too focused on the esports side of things. Part of it is because I didn’t like the way certain moderators ran the show.

Also, I realised I replied to your comment 4 months late… Oops 😅

Better late than never! And hey, I totally agree. The ban on memes was extremely lame and I /r/starcraftmemes was private for some reason. I already shitposted a meme that got relatively popular :)
