Researchers from the University of Kansas and Brookhaven National Laboratory have made a breakthrough in the understanding of water-splitting catalysts.
It seems unlikely any such scheme would make more sense than using the electricity for any other purpose. The efficiency losses in anything that would burn hydrogen would be so high that you’d be better off using the kilowatts for an EV. At that point just keep burning fossil fuels for the things that can’t go electric yet.
