Hoping to have a private beta test within a month or two. For now calling the app Kmoon (K🌛)
Sign up here!
EDIT: the app will be x-platform (iOS, Android and Mac)
That’s fantastic. Keep up the good work!
Thank you, just doing my part to serve the community!
This kind of stuff is exactly what the fediverse needs. Great work!
100%! So much growth left in the fediverse. And I can’t wait for more competition on the app space :D
iOS dev, making a cross platform app, inspired by how apollo was?! Oof, as an Android user, i cant wait! 👍
Budgeting to get an Android device so I can test it myself too ;)
Also, Apollo was just iconic. If I can built half of that, we’ll be rocking it!
Which Android device are you looking at? I’ve always wondered how devs develop for Android since there’s so many different kinds of devices that run Android with different capabilities. With iPhones, I’m (hopefully correctly) assuming that it’s a little easier since there’s only so many versions to support.
Yep, much easier on iOS. For Android I’ll prob pick a Pixel.
You should try using Android as your daily driver though. Some months ago I tried iOS and I hated it. Of course this is a personal opinion, but you should really try it. My current phone is the OPPO Reno8 Lite. It’s cheap, fast and overall really good.
I got a One Plus 11 coming tomorrow. Gonna be my daily driver while I polish the Android side of the app :)
Ooo, a pricey one. I’ve read great things about it.
it’s sooo nice. The ultra charging ain’t a lie, crazy how fast.
This is great! I miss features from apps on Kbin, like saving posts, collapsing comments, etc. Signed up.
Wanted to add - Joey for Reddit was my go-to on Android when I left iOS/Apollo. Might be good inspiration, as well; I actually felt that Joey handled somethings much better than Apollo did.
Joey for Reddit is/was the ULTIMATE client if you desire customization of the experience.
Man…I spent days on those font size and elements to be show/hide on the cards/threads. But it was in the end MY PERFECT experienceHadn’t heard of it. But taking a look!
I’d rather see Relay or Infinity inspired stuff but I guess it’s a first step for this type of field.
Noted. I’ll take a look at those and see what I can pull from them too.
Signed up! I’ve been using a Firefox shortcut on my Android phone for the past couple of days, but an app would make things much easier and more accessible.
I’m happy to see kbin apps start popping up so fast. Signed up for this beta.
It’d be nice to have a landing page like what Apollo has. One where you can favorite Magazines and the like.
Following this with great interest! Thanks for your hard work :)
Signed up!Will this be open source?
You absolute legend. Make it paid and I’ll pay for it. This is how we win.
Awww thanks. My aim is to keep it free (plus ad free!). Just wanna help the fediverse become more accessible :)
If I do charge for something it would be for unique features that go above and beyond.
Sweet! That’s awesome! 😊👍
Maybe a name like Aurora or Nova could work. Like it is still space / celestial themed but both symbolize “new” (aurora - new morning after nighttime, nova, explosion of light / pent up energy), and can work as a spiritual successor paying homage to Apollo. Great idea btw I just signed up.
What about something like Komet? Then it would still be space themed, but have the K from kbin as well.
Wouldn’t recommend using “Aurora”. It’s already the main alternative to the official google play store, and it’s getting hunted down by Google. You wouldn’t this nice new app to get stuck into this unrelated mess.
To add to this, Nova is a very popular Android launcher as well.
That’s fair! I was giving examples but you’re right this and what another user mentioned about Nova make them imperfect choices. I like the idea of paying homage to Apollo somehow.
Can’t wait to see this, it should make it easier for people to join that would have ended up using the reddit app instead.
I am definitely interested, but I have a question: if I entered the beta testing, what would be my responsibilities? I ask before I have never beta tested anything…
Like using an app but you can’t hate on it if anything is broken lol. Instead you have to submit feedback/issues so they can be addressed. But also, could just be new ideas in the form of feature requests.
I’ll prob setup a Discord and an issue tracker on github.
Thank you. Honestly I am very nervous about it, I am still unsure if I will subscribe. The problem is more about me being a tech noob than anything, I am really just a casual user who has learned how to Google tech/computer tutorials when needed (and even then, with mixed results lol) so I worry I would be a useless tester
