It’s going to be more on rails than Skyrim but have a more compelling story. Which is very welcome if you ask me.
I could see it, Outer Worlds was okay but not fully there, I would be happy to give them another chance.
I looked at Outer Worlds as toe dipping into the waters to see if they COULD do something like they kept a lot of guard rails on the player, because they’d rather limit the scope of the game, and themselves, than give a bad impression of their abilities. I think Obsidian has absolutely earned my trust. We’ll see how Avowed goes though, but I’m definitely in for the ride already. :-)
PS Do NOT pre-order ANY game from ANY dev. :-D
Why would anyone even buy a game coming to gamepass? :p
Steam features, and it won’t disappear after time.
I’m on Linux and I don’t have Gamepass. Also while no finanical info has been given with Gamepass, I’d imagine giving money directly to a dev would end up as more? Though I don’t honestly know.
Microsoft owns obsidian, buying their games doesnt support the devs at all. But i also am on linux with no gamepass, might have to wait for the crack xD
Forgot MS owns every game dev now basically. I’ll still support the Obsidian devs with my cash. :-)
Seems like they nailed it! :-D Looking forward to this.
I hope it’s true, to at least the point of my apparent requirement to be a sneaky archer.
The trailer looks great, but I know better than to trust trailers at this stage.
Skyrim is popular because of its modding capabilities. I would have never touched it after the first 60 hours if it didn’t have a great modding community.
If you want a similar cow to milk, you have to be prepared to invest into creating good modding tools.
You do know obsidian are the new vegas crew right? They know how to milk the bethesda RPG cow better than bethesda themselves :p
I mean, surely New Vegas was pretty much the only Bethesda Rpg that didn’t need a shit ton of mods to be playable? Haha
Most of their games at this point are pretty different than Bethesda rpgs. Pentiment, Grounded, Pillars of Eternity, Tyranny, Pathfinders, Stick of Truth etc. They’ve actually gone on to make some pretty unique titles, while Bethesda has milked the rpg cow for pretty much their entire existence.
Well, they didn’t make the Gamebryo engine that NV was built on, that was provided by Bethesda. Not saying Obsidian couldn’t pull it off, but they don’t have the same kind of experience building engines that Bethesda does. The writing is top notch though.
