An employer wants to know if you have the necessary skills to do the job, and where you went tells them if that’s true. This happens at high schools in our area too, because those tell the colleges which ones to let in. It’s a nepotism, money and influence gatekeeper. I’m not sure you’ll ever get rid of it because it’s so baked in. Not to say you shouldn’t try.
