    One of my favorite species! In my experience they can be found in most cities with a suitable climate (subtropical).

    Fun facts about them: they have the largest and heaviest cone of any tree species. It is dangerous to stand under them during coning season in late summer. However it may be worth the risk! The cones have huge edible nuts which are starchy and delicious when cooked. Aboriginal Australians would set aside all conflict and grievance during the time they were available to have a huge intertribal feast. Sounds like a tradition we could use today.
