A new nesting bank is giving sand martins a better chance to thrive.
Located at Testwood Lakes Nature Reserve near Totton, it has been purpose-built by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust to support the only known breeding colony of sand martins in the Test Valley.
The new structure replaces a previous artificial bank that had supported the colony for more than 20 years but had deteriorated over time.
