I mean this is a crap article and a crap series of opinions. I only read it because it keeps getting spammed over and over. Now I understand why they’ve been downvoted consistently, it’s a trash opinion.

That was a very repetitive and zelous read. The data Mozilla is using for their AI isn’t open, free and properly licensed. Author hates baked in LLMs. Defiantly not worth reading in it’s entirety.

This was so obvious but people were still defending Mozilla saying “at least there is a switch”…

Motherfucker you can opt-out of all sorts of stuff but look where that got us to with all these big tech companies. Opt-out is completely worthless.

They have a point, I wonder if the re-posts are so down voted because they are considered spamming or for some reason related to the content

I opted out completely by not using the Firefox browser anymore.

Don’t trust a company that says one, whelches on that idea, does damage control and then tries to offload that shit with PR and a ‘switch’ to make you happy.

They’re cooked leave the browser in the past and move on.

Leave the browser for what? I hope you’re not going to mention any Chromium based browser. And if you mention Gecko, guess who develops that. Unless there’s a large group willing to fork and maintain Gecko and hope everyone starts using it or constantly maintains compatibility, it’s not going to go anywhere.

Does it suck? Yes. Does it suck less than Chrome… hell yes.

There are plenty of Firefox forks, some of which remove all this stuff. Maybe Librewolf or Waterfox would be suitable alternatives until we have a usable Servo browser.

I’m not going to recommend shit. Do your own research a choose what’s right for you.

There are plenty out there not trying to fob AI onto you as a way of skirting their own shit decisions.

If you want to suck the teat of new Firefox go ahead.
