Transcript:
Violet stands with a spoon in her hand watching Charlie Brown eat at the table. She asks, “How are the pancakes, Charlie Brown?”
She smiles as he replies, “Oh…Uh…Er…they’re fine, I guess…did you really make them yourself!”
He continues eating as she says, “Well, I don’t exactly make them…”
He gags as she continues, “I just cut them out of an old blanket!”
Original comic:

I haven’t read this strip for ages, but recall it becoming something unique and memorable in the 50’s and maybe 60’s. Not from personal experience, but based on reading past collections.
So it’s pretty interesting, seeing these oldies. For example, we see that much of the Peanuts drawing style is in place, altho it would certainly get further refined. The joke delivery and panel flow are really smooth, even if the joke itself doesn’t quite make sense. But things would further improve from this point…
Btw, where did the coloring come from?
I’m not sure where the coloring comes from exactly. I pull the comics from here, but it’s not directly stated how they did the coloring:

This is the about page:
Oh, nice! And what a great project…
Absolutely I would guess in-house staff doing the coloring, with agreement of the Schulz estate. Haha, for a minute there I was worried about:
